Raising High Grade Quality Nigerian Dwarf Goats
I raise and SELL pure breed Nigerian Dwarf goats, Silkie chickens, Silkie Frizzle chickens and Rhode Island Red chickens. I also SELL brown eggs. All our animals get fresh water twice a day and all pens are cleaned regularly by Navajo Farm services who are an independent farm help contractor.
At Chiquita's Rancho, we believe in treating our animals with respect and care, while also being responsible stewards of the land. We are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality products while upholding our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices.
The Nigerian Dwarf goat is an American miniature breed developed for small-scale dairy production and companionship.
Nigerian dwarf goats are miniature dairy goats that originated in West Africa and have a variety of colorful markings.
At Chiquita's Rancho, we raise only high bred, quality goats. My goats come from an excellent line of milkers and the females usually give birth to triplets. I also provide stud services. I feed my goats probiotics, protein, supplements, and high-grade Alfalfa and grass hay for their digestive system.
The pregnant females are massaged every day until they give birth. And believe me they LOVE it!
More than just a pretty face, Silkie chickens are fluffy, friendly birds that could be the perfect addition to your backyard flock. Often described as the teddy bears of the chicken world, Silkies are known for their calm temperament, unique appearance, and maternal instincts.
The Silkie (also known as the Silky or Chinese silk chicken) is a breed of chicken named for its atypically fluffy plumage, which is said to feel like silk and satin. The breed has several other unusual qualities, such as black skin and bones, blue earlobes, and five toes on each foot, whereas most chickens have only four. They are often exhibited in poultry shows, and also appear in various colors. In addition to their distinctive physical characteristics, Silkies are well known for their calm and friendly temperament. It is among the most docile of poultry. Hens are also exceptionally broody, and care for their young very well. Although they are fair layers themselves, laying only about three eggs a week, they are commonly used to hatch eggs from other breeds and bird species due to their broody nature. Silkie chickens have been bred to have a wide variety of colors which include but are not limited to: Black, Blue, Buff, Partridge, Splash, White, Lavender, Paint and Porcelain.
The Frizzle chicken breed is recognized for its distinctive curly feathers, making it a unique and sought-after addition to backyard flocks. Frizzles are known for their friendly disposition, making them great pets and educational companions for children.
These chickens have medium-sized bodies and come in various colors, including black, white, buff, or blue. Their most noticeable feature is their curled feathers, which cover their entire bodies, including their wings and tails. Frizzles make excellent foragers and adapt well to various climates, making them a popular choice for hobby farmers and poultry enthusiasts.
In addition to their charming appearance and friendly nature, Frizzles are also prolific layers, producing a respectable amount of small to medium-sized eggs throughout the year. Their unique feathering pattern and docile temperament make them a standout breed in any flock. Whether you are looking to add some diversity to your poultry collection or want a friendly and attractive breed for your backyard, the Frizzle chicken breed is an excellent choice.
The Frizzle chicken breed has a fascinating history that traces back to the 19th century. Originating in Southeast Asia, this unique breed gained popularity for its distinctive feather appearance. Here is a breakdown of the Frizzle chicken breed’s history:
Frizzle Chickens as Pets
Frizzle chickens are not just visually stunning but also make charming pets. These friendly birds are often kept for their unique appearance, but they also have a social nature that makes them excellent companions.
The Rhode Island Red was developed as a dual-purpose breed, to provide both meat and eggs. Since about 1940, it has been selectively bred predominantly for egg-laying qualities, and the modern industrial Rhode Island Red is a layer breed. Rhode Island Reds have been used in the creation of many modern hybrid breed.
Rhode Island Red chickens are commonly raised today for their superb egg production. Just one hen can produce more than 280 eggs each year! Their eggs are large and brown. As a homestead bird they are one of the best breeds out there in my opinion. They are healthy, resilient and will lay plenty of eggs for you.
